    Hanneliese Scheel

    Geology

    Hanneliese Scheel, has been working with Dr. Katherine Johanesen, associate professor of geology, on research to investigate whether Virtual Reality (VR) can be used to train spatial reasoning skills. These skills are essential in geology as the work often requires three-dimensional visualization and problem-solving. She presented her research plan at Juniata’s Liberal Arts Symposium in 2021 and was supported by the Noyce Scholarship over the summer. The project now has funding from the National Science Foundation and the experiment will be conducted in early 2022
